On an evening stroll, a woman confesses to her husband that she is expecting another man's child. So begins Viennese composer Arnold Schoenberg's famous Transfigured Night, a romantic and passionate work that describes every episode in their heated discussion, until dawn finally brings the husband's loving pardon and resignation. Michael Gielen is one of the last representatives of the great Viennese tradition (Brahms, Mahler, Schoenberg) and an absolutely unique conductor who brings depth and lyricism to the music he directs.
